Nina and Anthony had a beautiful, private Maui mountain elopement at Waihe'e Coastal Dunes that we had the joy of capturing on Super 8 film. Their Love Story
Nina and Anthony met nearly 9 years ago through dance. They both went to the same college and were members of the same dance team but at different times. Anthony was an alumnus so came back to visit his college dance team one day and that's when he met Nina!
After dating for 8 years, they got engaged during the pandemic in February 2021. Anthony had a grand gesture where he performed a choreographed dance with the help of his friends. He was dressed up as Prince Charming and Nina unknowingly matched him, wearing periwinkle blue. How serendipitous!
Wedding Traditions at Your Elopement
Just because you're not having a traditional wedding ceremony doesn't mean you have to let go of all wedding traditions if you don't want to! An amazing thing about eloping is that there are unlimited choices for how you want your day to go. Nina and Anthony decided to include a first look, a lei exchange and a first dance for their mountain elopement. And these moments couldn't have been more beautiful to capture.
It's common to believe that when you elope, you won't be able to have that "big reveal" moment during your first look. But we promise that it's not true. If you're eloping and would like to include your first look, you can always get ready separately and then come together for the unforgettable reveal! Nina and Anthony got ready separately at Wailea before they had their first look where they laughed, twirled and admired each other and the calm quiet.
After, they took a short hike up to Waihe'e Coastal Dunes where they shared their vows and exchanged leis while surrounded by the tropical breeze. The lei exchange is a beautiful Hawaiian tradition symbolizing love, commitment, respect and gratitude. Nina and Anthony's main love languages are words of affirmation and acts of service and their vows and lei exchange truly highlighted that.
As Nina and Anthony dance(d) and met through dance, it's no surprise they included a first dance for their mountain elopement. Anthony showed off his moves before coming together with Nina to dance with the view of the mountains as their backdrop.
Elopement Celebration at the Beach
To celebrate their mountain elopement, Nina and Anthony walked down to the beach where they danced some more, admired each other and enjoyed the sand and waves. Having an elopement celebration with just the two of you is a perfect way to end your elopement day. It's a wonderful chance to have fun and get excited about spending the rest of your lives together as a married couple.
